My mom is looking to rent her place in Boise so that she can move and be closer to me, but she is having a hard time finding a reliable property management company.

Does anyone have any recommendations by any chance? I'd really appreciate it!

My husband and I retirees and are relocating to Eagle and were looking for a home to rent for about a year in either Eagle or Boise. We have some special considerations as I have MS and no longer climb stairs easily so we were looking specifically for single story. In any event, after hearing "horror stories" about property managers, we learned that there are good firms to do business with in the Boise area and happily found a rental through one of them. Shame on us for believing the "horror stories". We also found that many of the properties managed by good firms get posted on Zillow by those firms and some on Craig's List too. The market is tight for rentals right now and if you're looking be prepared to "act fast" and sign a year's lease. In our case we needed to start leasing a month before we actually needed to move in order to tie the right property up. All good though as we are grateful to have found it. Happy to provide the contact info for the Property Manager we leased from and the other good one we contacted if anyone is interested. Both have properties in Boise and Eagle. Can do that via direct message if you like.

We rented our one story house from Residential Property Management on Ustick. For the most part they were easy to deal with and actually went out of their way to help us. Our household goods had to arrive a few days before my husband I could. They made arrangements for a key to be available to our movers. Only got dinged for one thing on our move out, the window grooves. I did clean them but I think someone they know cleans those for them so I'm sure they want to help them out a bit. It wasn't that much of a charge against our deposit. The house we had was in the Sundance neighborhood of Meridian.

I will (hopefully) be there early next year, looking for a 6-12 month rental while I job search, and buy a home.

Any referrals on property managers would be most appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi BoiseBound2012:

My understanding of the forum is specific company names and contact info for Realtors and Property Managers can only be shared via direct messaging. I posted contact info for RE Agent in reply to forum request once and had it taken down and was notified messaging only for that ind of info. Think for property managers too since a RE function? Would be very happy to share contact info on two that we found to be useful if you want to message me.

Think you'll find nearly all deal with 12 month lease minimums. Our experience was the market is really tight right now and very competitive, among renters that is, for good properties. An agent in Meridian told a friend of mine that for every good property that comes on in Eagle, for example, there are at least six people standing in line with their hands raised. That sure was our experience in April when we started looking in earnest. We had to sign a lease starting in early May although we won't move in until mid June to tie something up. We understood that, there were other folks ready to take it immediately too.

I don't know if all of Tresure Valley is like that but seems to us the good properties in Meridian, Boise and Eagle are all going pretty quickly right now and another long time resident of the area told me rental prices are higher this year than she can recall them being before. Same in the town where I currently live.

May change by the time you are ready to look early next year.
