we have read the accolades re: boise and are considering a preliminary visit when weather permits. we live in the olympic peninsula area west of seattle and for a variety of reasons(rain/clouds) are looking to relocate. in the mean time, we would appreciate some photos of neighborhood streets/houses/area, etc. and maybe a description of the neighborhood/area. we would like to find an area that is hip, (hippie undertones) progressive, craftsman style tree lined streets, and appropriate to raise a young family. anyone familiar w/ s.e. portland? will know what we are looking for.
(ps. we've seen the wonderful downtown/scenic photos) thanks in advance-

Northend.

Expect to pay no less than 350K for a small, older craftsman that may or may not need work. But it has everything else you want (hippie/artsy undertones, tree lined streets, great parks, good family area, etc.).

In fact, it may be absolutely heaven for you.

Default My house is in the Northend

Northend link :
Northend.org - Boise's Historic Neightborhood - North End Lifestyle, Politics, Business, Realty, Culture

MLSUpdateService.com

The Northend is exactly what you're looking for.
Homes can be pricey but you can still find good deals.
The homes in this neighborhood appreciate faster
than anywhere else.
Good luck !

thanks for the feed back-so far we like what we see-affordable homes, sense of community, up beat attitudes, etc. any chance of viewing whole neighborhood photos somewhere in these forums or other links to narrow our search when we visit this summer?

You mentioned you had already seen pictures of Downtown but here are more and gives a good sense of the area. This is a forum about development in Boise mostly geared toward high density development downtown (these are not my photos)...

Boise: A Weekend of Wandering Through The Wood - SkyscraperPage Forum

If you search around further you may find neighborhood pics.

Thumbs up Pics of Subdivisions

I absolutely LOVE my subdivision in Boise, but if I post pics of it, everyone will know where I live and I can't be having that !!! So I've been thinking about your request and the BEST that I can do is, offer up a link to what I used when I was searching here originally . I am NOT saying to use this particular Realtor/Brokerage , but I do NOT see any other way to get you to the pics on their site . And the pics are the BEST that I have seen in all my searching, though it is just a small sampling of the subs here !!!

Maybe somebody else will come along with something better, but for now, I think this is at least a starting place : www dot TeamBoise dot com

Then click on :
Browse our picture gallery of Boise's finest subdivisions

p.s.
I am not a Realtor, nor am I in ANY way related or affiliated with anyone at the above website. And if someone else here has a better way to get to these pics without going through the Realtor's site, please post that info here ! Thanks!

Try the new Google street maps feature, almost every street in Boise has been filmed and you can pick a street and look at every house on the block. It looks like Google took the pictures at the height of the summer, so there are a lot of brown lawns. Other than that it is pretty amazing what they did.
