Our dream is to leave South Florida and relocate to the Boise area. We have family there. Visiting over the Christmas holiday and want to scope out some neighborhoods. We are looking at Meridian, Eagle and Star. We need a large back yard. We want a neighborhood with as many trees as possible, peaceful, quiet and safe. We are also looking at Middleton and Emmett but have been advised not to. Our price range is modest, less than $140,000.

Some have recommended the Boise Bench area?

I want to take my wife on a driving tour of some neighborhoods.

If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks much!

Hey, good luck with the move! I am in Central Florida and plan on moving back to Boise this summer. It will be worth it. SW Boise always seems to have decent prices. I like that area.

I'm looking out there also to move. I don't see much that's decent in Boise, Meridian or Star for under $140,000!! Definitely not Eagle. That is also my price range. I've had to start researching Nampa and Caldwell, which is not really what I wanted to do, but it's not going to stop me from moving to the area!

I am in Boise now for the holidays. I have found several nice homes in nice developments for $135,000 to $150,000. In face, my wife and I drove past a 3 bedroom, 2 bath 2 car garage place in Meridian two days ago that was $150,000. Beautiful area, convenient to shopping and restaurants, and it had a nice back yard fenced in that rested against a common area, so no neighbors to the rear. I am tempted to pull money from my 401B account and buy it! However, without a job that would be a bit stupid. But then again, living in the chaos third world environment of Miami-Ft Lauderdale is getting to be way to dangerous.

I use Zillow.com to find homes, filtering the price range. There are some under $135,000 but those usually need a little work or are in neighborhoods that are a bit tired.

We visited Star and found some nice developments but it is a bit of a drive from Boise and I was not terribly impressed with "downtown". But they are building like crazy there and in five years Star will be the place to live probably.

If you are patient you can find nice homes in Meridian/Boise in your price range.

Best of luck!

There once was a time, before the massive growth in the area, that Star was just a blip along the highway which explains the very small downtown.
