We have lived in the same house in Boise for about 25 years and this is the most snow we have had to contend with both in frequency and volume. The main roads they keep pretty clear, but you might wish you had chains on in some subdivisions.
When you have a snow day - go skiing - the powder is great (and sometimes it is warmer at Bogus Basin Ski Area than Boise due to inversions).

The update for this past winter the area got hit pretty hard with snow, there are people blogging right here about being stuck in their homes for weeks at a time due to the cities not being prepared for that amount of snowfall.
