Hello
My husband and I feel we are ready to leave California behind & start new elsewhere (Boise Idaho) we have 3 small kids (7y/o, 5y/o, 1y/o.) we been researching Boise & love how family oriented it sounds like, we are planning to go visit before moving the whole family. I'm just a little scared California is all we know ! Any advice ? We are a young couple (both 27) and we are just ready to leave the big city. So I have a few questions & hope I don't sound rude. How are schools over there ? Are people friendly ? (I know here in Ventura county it's a bit questionable lol) I mean how is live over there overall ? Thank you so much!

Being able to find a job here should be priority 1, 2, 3, and 4... before worrying about any of the rest of the stuff, in my opinion.

That's exactly why we are going to visit first, we have money saved up for about 8 months of rent, food, emergencies etc.

You're further ahead than most.

Ventura-Oxnard-Camarillo Area is similar in population to the Boise Area. So, if you're looking to get away from "the city" I am not sure if Boise is the answer, as I personally don't consider that area "city". I would say these towns may even have more of a small town feel than Boise. Now, if LA is part of your daily life (as in commuting) I would understand wanting to move.

Thank you!
The biggest picture is owning a home too. It is ridiculous the amount of money houses cost here in Ventura county! Some of the cheapest houses are 350-400 & that's not in nice areas. We are renting a 3 bedroom apartment for 1,750 (in a really nice area) & it feels ridiculous to keep paying this for just rent. California is such a beautiful state but defiantly overpriced !

Understandable...but be sure to see what your jobs pays in the Boise Area. Sure, you'll find less expensive housing, but you'll also find considerably less pay.

We have looked at that as well. They do pay a lot less but sums up with the cost of living, while here 2 people can make 15-23 dollars an hour & you'll still struggle to pay a mortgage in a nice area (assuming you can even purchase a home) Thank you for your input !!! So kind
