We just moved to a rental in Nampa almost a month ago. I've explored how, now I'm just wondering if their is a smarter order to getting my new driver's license, car registration and car insurance address changed. Just asking from experience: does it matter which order I do things in? My first inclination is to change my driver's license, then registration, then insurance. Thanks!

I did insurance, DL, and then registration. I did DL and registration on the same day at the DMV. DL first though so everything would be under my new ID DL #.

I changed my insurance as soon as the house closed, cost of ins. (home and auto) was much cheaper here, than CA so it made sense to take advantage of that.

Once I'd gotten here, and a little settled, I visited the DMV and changed DL and registration at the same time.

Honestly, outside of saving money on ins. costs, I don't think it matters much what you change first.

I thought that there was a safety inspection and smog required.

Some exemptions exist, such as age (under 5 years old, or before 1981) of car. Mine required only that the employee doing the registration walk outside w/me to verify the mileage.

I believe Idaho requires smoging every two years for non-exempt vehicles.
