Twin Falls you skirt, going from 93 to Poleline (past Target and Costco), and then straight to the interstate.

If you drive the interstate, you'll dealing with SLC metro traffic from Provo to Ogden. That's a solid hour of congested metro driving; even if you don't slow down here (you will) it's still an hour longer going this way.
I have driven both multiple times, and I like both routes for different reasons. The 93 route is usually very quiet in terms of traffic, where I-15 can be a Daytona 500. Depends on how fast you want to get there, I guess.

But, seriously, if you want to get there quickest, you should stay on I-15. Yeah, I know all about SLC traffic, but just tune in to traffic reports and you can usually avoid troublespots, as SLC has optional N/S routes.

I actually prefer 93, but most will find it cumbersome and slower.

I will be driving a 20' U-Haul and towing my car. Can some one recommend a hotel in Ely where I will be able to easily park?

Thanks, Eric

Definitely stay in Ely. There is nothing in Well that you would want to stay at and you would need to push through to Jackpot.

Where did you end up buying your new home in?

My wife (Helen) and I relocated to Eagle from Murrieta a little over a year ago after living in Murrieta for 14 years.

Again, welcome to the Gem State.

Best regards,

Jeff

P.S. California in the rear view mirror is a wonderful site!

Thank you! I am so excited to see the light at the end of the tunnel. And you are so right about Cali. I am SO over it!

Ely is a total dump-hole and I wouldn't recommend stopping
there for anything except gasoline and lunch at Taco Time.
It's more like 140 miles from there to Wells, but who's counting?
The best thing to do is stay in Vegas, then you can make the
drive to Boise up US-93 via Jackpot/Twin Falls in about 10 hours.
Much safer, in my opinion, than driving in The Mormon 500, i.e., up I-15.

So how did it get the name, "the Mormon 500"?

The Mormon 500 is actually quite simple. These faith-based LDS love to break the law when it comes to speeding. So put together the Church and Speeding and you get the answer. (Perhaps a generalization as not all speeders are Mormon, and not all Mormon's are speeders. But this is where this comes from).
