My family and I are looking to relocate from the Midwest to the Boise/Meridian area.
My question is this, is the economy doing as well they say in Boise? My wife and I are mid career professionals with Business degrees in the Sales and Marketing and Human Resources fields. We both have current experience in our fields and are looking to stay somewhat in them If possible.
Any first hand knowledge of the strength of the economy in Boise would be much appreciated?

Getting a good job in this area can be challenging. Start checking online on job sites like Indeed and see what is currently being offered. You can also check with a temp agency to get your foot in the door. Best way to relocate is to have a good job waiting for you. This area is getting more crowded and more competitive every day. All the best.
There are jobs to be had here... in certain sectors. I agree with others that pinning something down ahead of time is the best option.
The home buying situation is as strong a seller's market as I have ever seen. Home prices are skyrocketing. Most of the jobs are in Boise, of course, but you will get more bang for your home-buying buck the farther you get from the city (Meridian, Kuna, Nampa, Caldwell).
I have found renting to be very tough here as well. Some of the local rental property management companies, especially the bigger ones, will squeeze you for every dime they can get, much of it unnecessary maintenance costs and fees that never actually make it to the actual homeowners. The smaller firms seem to be much more agreeable and flexible to work with, but have fewer properties. When we moved here from the East Coast two years ago, we had to rent a property based upon internet photos and limited information from one of the larger companies just to avoid having to stay in a hotel for a ridiculous amount of time and cost. The house ended up having a lot of flaws that the property managers never did adequately fix and I ended up doing a lot of the work myself.

Hello Ddflood,
I am not sure how 'booming' the economy is here...Getting a good, well-paid, professional job in Boise area presently difficult unless you are OK with $9-13/hour pay (there are plenty of these). I would encourage you to apply and see... Most people who came to our Meridian neighborhood recently brought their jobs with them (myself included) plus they came with down payments.
My wife (with Master's degree) has been trying to find a decent job in her field for 2 years but with no luck. Some people (I've heard) got a job within 2 weeks. So, it is hard to advise. With the growing influx of people, competition for jobs is high.
Personally, I would recommend telecommuting for work (if possible).
We are seeing an influx of people who bring their jobs with them. The internet advances and telecommuting make this possible. If you can, that would help. As for new jobs in those fields, you might find its a "who you know" scenario in Boise.
Finding a rental or even a storage unit can be a challenge in this market. Best bet is to have everything lined up beforehand if possible.
Good luck with the move, its worth it once you get here.
Where is the OP?? I often wonder why people bother posting on a forum and then do not follow up. This forum was a valuable tool when my husband and I were relocating 4 years ago. I still visit the forum and provide input when my experience can provide additional insight.
And thanks to all of the other locals who continue to respond and donate their time here!

Same here. I joined in 2007 when I was lobbying hard to move here (the wifey wasn't ready), and probably posted in a few different forums while we were looking to move somewhere with a slower pace and a better quality of life.
It's great to be able to contribute what little I can now that I've been here for some time.
