I think Boise has just about everything I could ever need/want. I love the fact you can drive 5 minutes and be on trails hiking in the foothills. The community may seem small and isolated. But I went to college at western illinois university in Macomb IL, where we were surrounded by corn fields for at least 45 minutes it seemed in any direction, and the nearest airport was in St. Louis which was a three hour drive.
Though what I've noticed lately is that most of the new business coming into the downtown core are banks. I don't think we need more banks. And some chain stores such as anthropologie coming in. Unfortunately with the economy as it is many small business's of the retail variety have closed over the last two years leaving vacant retail spots which I believe only major retailers can afford to fill. When the economy takes a downturn, smaller business's are hit the hardest.
