Hey, you can totally find this here!! I'm a Boise native but have friends from all over, even (gasp!) California. We have lots of great people here and Boise is definitely a good place for laid back people who aren't big into material status stuff. The more into older Boise neighborhoods, the more laid back things will be.

I have always been told to avoid Boise because that's where you get traffic and congestion.

the only time i've seen traffic and congestion is outside of downtown/bench/north east or west end

Whether you like the people here is personality-dependent. There's a "live and let live" attitude, and while plenty are friendly here, people can more introverted than in other areas of the country. My family from Minneapolis recently visited and thought the "Minnesota nice" was missing, but maybe that's because there's a very refined politeness up there that kind of runs against the very open nature of people in the Mountain West.

I think nature and the outdoors is a generally more common topic among random locals than purses... If you like that stuff, you'll feel at home.
