I have never been to Idaho or that area of the country, but one thing always puzzled me. In the summer, I see that Boise temperatures reach 100 fairly often. How is it that happens in a state that is pretty far north, much more northern than where I live and we seldom reach 100. Is it a dry heat? Do you get much wind? Is there a meterorolgical explanation for the high temps? Just curious.

Very, very dry. Temperature is all about elevation, not latitude. It is rarely windy in the summer.
