'Round here, we have the pleasure of getting bent over by PG&E. Oh, sure there's the PUC, bought they're bought and paid for.....anyway, here I pay .16/ per kwh for baseline useage. If I happen to use the microwave, it puts me into tier 2. Tier 2 is .21/per kwh, and if I happen to use the heat or a/c then I'm into tier 3 at .29/ per kwh. Nat gas is cheap around here, so we have gas appliances. In the summer when its hot a/f, my bill can go up to $350 for a month, in a 1550 sq ft 2 story house. My buddy, however, has 2400 sq ft, 2 story, with a wife home all day, babysitting kids, and in the heat of the summer, his bill has been over 600!
I was chatting with some California transplants a few days ago and that was EXACTLY what they said about their house: $350 in the summer was normal. They say $70 is now the most they pay in their Eagle house around 2,000 sq ft.

before we moved to the HO, our electric bill in Htown was usually 400 to 600 a month. Here it's 100 to 200 a month, even in summer.

Wouldn't have guessed either one in a thousand years. Neither will likely become part of my lexicon.

PG&E The State PUC is suppose to protect the interests of the consumer.
But they don't. It depends who the president / commissioners are.
Gas here is less expensive than electricity here. If you have to pay for propane gas that could get very costly.
The bigger the house the more expensive it will be on utility bills. Also take into account usually the newer homes are more energy efficient over the older homes. Same goes for appliances old vs. new.

What's the cv19 situation up there in the HO? I heard some of it is being lifted on the 30th. My wife and I are planning to drive up on Friday the 1st to have a look at some real estate.
