I need to pull a Jack Nicholson, as in, The Shining and get away from town and go to a quiet place to write, and work on a laptop and read. Minus, the losing of sanity, and the homicidal **** against the family ( dont even have a family in fact, I'm just going alone ).

Here is the post that I pasted in a fb group, but got no responses:

Does anyone know of a motel/hotel within an hour driving distance of Treasure valley, that is good for getting away for work/study time? I have some computer work to do as well as reading that I need un-distracted time to do it. ( plus there's a huge building being built behind my apt complex, lol.. plus all the distractions of being home )

Thinking of a place, maybe that has some interesting surroundings, whether it's small town attractions ( somewhat like Buhl , ID that was just posted, but that's 2 or 3 hourrs away).. or nature area, or anything that's interesting to take a walk between bouts of work....

For quiet, near nature, you could check out some of these air bnb places to the north of Boise:

https://www.airbnb.com/donnelly-id/stays
https://www.airbnb.com/cascade-id/stays
https://www.airbnb.com/s/Midvale--ID...e=search_query
https://www.airbnb.com/s/idaho-city-...5B%5D=%2Fhomes

Plenty of duplicates between the links but some differences too.

You could probably find a quiet place in Emmett, Payette or Weiser. Weiser has some great historic architecture and would be an intersting place to spend a few days.

If you get to Weiser, make sure to check this place out. Very interesting and the site of a yearly fiddle festival.

Weiser sounds ideal.

For you Nowhere, maybe look north of Weiser to get to low density and if you go far enough toward Midvale, more trees or trees in distance.

Get less than 5,500+ in population density?

Weiser in town has 1800 per square mile. Losing population slowly. Washington County overall has 7 per square mile with lots of area of none or almost none and a few pockets of more near the main roads. Midvale in "town", 85. Emmett 2400. Gem County overall, 30.

Like many outlying areas, little recent construction; but you might find some 15-20 year old houses.

Emmett and near to town might have some newer or under construction houses. Some bustle and more probably coming. It is relative. Too slow & basic for some. Not as much bustle as on other side of the hills to Treasure Valley. Tradeoffs. 6600 people in Emmett. Was growing by about 100 per year but just about 10 per year since 2010. Could go back to 100 per year or maybe lots more in future. Hard to say. Retirees, commuters who want smaller / quieter / cheaper.

Weiser is pretty dry and open. Mainly just planted yard trees, especially in town. Either you can accept that look or cross it and other such places off list.

Have you managed to visit area? Any time soon? You'd probably eliminate a lot of places if you visited. Even virtually with Google street views. Identify what is too "crowded" for you, too desolate, too old / declining, too dry / open, too much snow, whatever.

Do you know what immediate density you really, all things considered, want? If you decided on 2000, 1000 per mile or 100 or 10, you could focus on that. Or leave it undefined and look lots of places.

In a quick look at real estate sites I did not see the size / age / price mix you have previously stated near Weiser. Most you'd probably say was too old / small / overpriced. Will probably get more expensive and new housing stock may or may not come. If so, then look even further out and / or wait for a possible future crash.

Here is one new construction place in Fruitland.

Price is for house. Lot extra. Devrlopment density? I dunno. Check if you want to know. Fruitland in town is 2400. 50 / sq. mi. or so in the county.
