Ok, @Syringaloid what do you propose? A cap on building new subdivisions for 5 years so natives can catch up on their price-to-income ratio?

Well, I don't think anything is ended yet. And I was very obviously being facetious when I suggested moving out West for cheaper prices. It was merely a point being made that Ada County has caught up to the Portland area and maybe even already surpassed it, or will shortly. Also, the chart shows Boise is among the top 5 major markets in the country (barring CA) for highest price-to-income ratios. So, the theory is if you fit into the median class of workers in another market with more expensive homes it could still be more affordable.

Will be interesting to see where Treasure Valley cities will be getting tax dollars. And near future rent hikes? It's gonna catch up quick! The welfare state is only delaying and likely exacerbating the pain to be felt later. Different than the Great Recession? Not really. It's just coming in a different package.
