He’s visiting NIFC to talk about effects of climate change. I would expect they’ll welcome the opportunity since they’re having to deal with it. (My husband is a retired BLM firefighter.) I certainly welcome his visit. I’m sure there’ll be protestors, as with any president.
I went to the protest. It was great to be around like minded people. Unfortunately Biden didn’t even see us. They kept him on the airport tarmac.
That's typical.
Here in Idaho Falls, anyone can get a glimpse of a President on the tarmac can happen any time there is a big conference in Jackson Hole.
The Idaho Falls airport has the only runway in the region long enough for Air Force One to land and take off from, so every President lands here and then Marine helicopters transport everyone over the Tetons to Jackson Hole.
The only President I ever saw who stopped and worked the crowd instead of getting straight on the airplane was Bill Clinton.
Twice. He obviously liked to talk to the locals; he would stand and listen to an old farmer for a very long time, and then move on to the next person. He never seemed to be in a rush to leave.
Hillary stuck with him once, the first time, but she went straight to the airplane and didn't hang out with the commoners the second time.

Bill was just trying to minimize his time w/Hillary!
Considering he won Boise by a huge percentage, his level headed supporters stayed away and appreciated why he was here....to talk about the western wildfires which impact all of us.
The mayor of Boise showed class and gave him a warm welcome, which is to be expected.

Come to Iowa. In my mid-sized city of Cedar Rapids I’ve had the opportunity several times to attend and shake the hands of now President Biden, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, George Bush, (refused to attend Trump rallies), and many other candidates. That may end soon after the fiasco with the 2020 Iowa caucus, which I have no problem with. However with Big Ag donors they still may appear in Iowa. Whatever happens it was a great experience for this former Southern California native.
Presidents never go anywhere but Sun Valley in Idaho, so I think it's always good when one visits one of our state capital.
Idaho and the rest of the mountain west is mostly ignored in Washington D.C., and a presidential visit really focuses attention on wherever they go.
Obama visited Boise, but it was during his campaign.
Bush visited Tamarack Resort.
Going way back in time, President Harrison, Roosevelt and Taft visited Boise. Of course, JFK was a Sun Valley regular.
