Last I saw the Mormon population of SLC was only 30%. That doesn't include the burbs, but the city itself isn't so Mormon any more.

I still think it's ugly as cities go and not too much going on for its size.

The area that is considered Salt Lake proper is this little area surrounded by miles upon miles of suburban look a like towns. While SLC proper may have a smaller LDS population than it used to it doesn't mean much when the entire surrounding suburbs are mostly LDS. So, imo stating that SLC is only a certain smaller percentage of LDS is pretty much wiped out because that metro area as a whole is still extremely LDS and the LDS church still has major, major influence over SLC and always will no matter how many non Mormons decide to move there. The non Mormons will always be in the minority in SLC. Mormons do have a really high birthrate which accounts for most of Utah's growth.

To get back on topic, Boise is a great city and area for children. Kids here have a life because there is so much to do ----for all age groups. This is not the kind of city you will see kids playing stick ball in alleyways and causing problems.

If Boise is country, I'm all over that. I like the idea of morals and family values.

Ok. So then everyone in Cincinnati must live in the ghetto and belong to gangs

Sorry longhorn eagles, I lived in Cincismutty for a year and there is more in Boise to do and you don't have to worry about getting shot at by a gang member.

I must've missed that one. I will take Boise over a mid-west city anyday.

People who don't know the Mormon culture may think the families are trying to exclude them when in fact Mormon kids as they get older get busier. Seminary on school days starting in high school. Scouts, sports and other church activities just make the kids busy. It is not designed to freeze anyone out but they keep the kids busy and stay true to their faith. I can say this , if a family drinks its doubtful my kid will be spending a night there.
