Didn't Phillip Roth do that to death?

If the overall story was good and that was a part of it, I'd read it. Otherwise, I can't see myself seeking out stories about that specifically.

I will despise Phillip Roth till my dying day. I used to love liver & onions. However after I read Roth's PORTNEY'S COMPLAINT I haven't ordered that item for years.

I'm a firm believer that there is no such thing as "a new story." Even Homer probably got his best ideas from previous stories, and we KNOW Shakespeare did.

Just because others have told these kinds of stories before, don't let that stop you. What makes old stories new is the author's unique take on the characters, on language, on plot, etc. If you have what you think is a great idea for a story that excites you, go for it.
