I was watching a documentary a few days ago, and they were talking about a twentieth century book thats plot outlined a world in the future where people had no physical contact and everyone communicated between electronic connections with each other, much like the internet, but different in that this connection worked with the electronic impulses and connections in the brain that control the body in many ways. This really intrigued me because of its parallels with modern society, and how we now often don't use any sort of physical contact or mannerisms to communicate.
I know it was written before anyone would have known about the internet, and probably before satellites, so most likely in the first half of the century. And, if you're wondering why I can't just go back and re-watch that part of the documentary, that is because it came on the t.v. and it wasn't on the schedule so I never got the name.
Thank you in advance, and if you have any recommendations for me for a book that has a plot or a thesis similar to this, sci-fi or not, I would be very interested in them.
