I'd like to find a few good ones to read.

I think I am a pretty good listener but I'd like to work on communicating better.

It seems like in this day and age, people just say anything and don't give a damn what comes out.

The excuses many use are " I'm not PC, I speak my mind" or "it's just the way I am, I don't sugar coat anything"

I USED to be that way years ago until I realized communicating/listening is an art many people have not learned.

Howdy Ron, you are asking for a lot from one book. Listening and communication skills are related, but I'd try to work on them seperatly. I would suggest you look at some good business books for men that cover this topics well. Steve Covey, Og Madino have some that have helped me tremendously.

If you want a season your knowledge with biblical wisdom you can read some of Proverbs scriptures on listening and speaking that will enlighten and guide you as well.

"Active" listening is what you're looking for. I can't recall any specific titles but I've attended a couple of workshops that covered it. google that phrase and I'm sure you'll find something.
