Don't know if this properly goes in the Books section, but

Newsweek to merge with Tina Brown's Daily Beast
CHICAGO (MarketWatch) — Newsweek will merge in a 50-50 joint venture with the Daily Beast, the publications said Friday, a transaction designed to combine the magazine’s resources and depth with the Web site’s more sophisticated understanding of Internet culture.

The new entity will be called the Newsweek Daily Beast Co.

Tina Brown, noted editor of the New Yorker and of Vanity Fair before founding the Daily Beast, will serve as editor-in-chief.

LOL
I had heard something about this, but had forgotten all about it.

Tina Brown has a history of being brought on board to revive a dying publication, so it probably means that Newsweek has been in big trouble with advertising revenue and/or circulation.
