I have to read Lords of Finance for my next monthly book group meeting but other than that, these are nonfiction books already in my possession that are on my reading to-do list:

The New Road To Serfdom: A Letter of Warning To America - Daniel Hannan

Raven: The Untold Story of the Reverend Jim Jones and His People - Tim Reiterman

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks - Rebecca Skloot

Voyage of the Dammed - Gordon Thomas and Max Morgan Witts

Country Driving - A Journey Through China from Farm to Factory - Peter Hessler

Broke - Glenn Beck

The First Tycoon: The Epic Life of Cornelius Vanderbilt - TJ Stiles

I recently finished Fordlandia and Columbine.

I'm reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks now after much procrastinating and fear that I would (a) throw up from the talk of "procedures" and (b) not understand much of the biology-speak.

I'm wrong.

The book is FABULOUS.

Actually, i read a great part, but still wants to continue....

The sealed nectar:

A complete and authoritative book on the life of Prophet Muhammad (saw) by Shaykh Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarkpuri. This is a widely read biography . From the author, 'Beyond a shadow of doubt, the biography of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) manifestedly represents an exhaustive embodiment of the sublime Divine Message that he communicated in order to deliver the human race from the swamp of darkness and polytheism to the paradise of light and monotheism. An image, authentic as well as comprehensive, of this Message is therefore only attainable through careful study and profound analysis of both backgrounds and issues of such a biography.'

Raven, "The Untold Story of Jim Jones and His People", is going on my list! There are some great reviews on it.

I can't bring myself to read it because I don't like to read books where people mistreat someone because of their color.

I actually just received two new books today that I am very much looking forward to starting over the weekend. The first is Pope Joan by Donna Woolfolk Cross which will be bringing me into the 9th century. I had no idea they were soon to be making this into a movie. The second novel is The Tea Rose by Jennifer Donnelly which will land me in the late 1880's - one of my favorite eras. I always want a huge cup of steaming hot tea and a warm scone by my side when I enter into this period!

I can definitely understand that. Henrietta's story -- and a few references -- were gut-wrenching.
