I finished The Count of Monte Cristo! Woo hoo! Took me 5 weeks (I don't get all that much time to read) but it was worth every minute of it. I was sorry when it was over.
Now I'm reading Depletion and Abundance by Sharon Astyk. It's about ways to be ready for the effects of peak oil and climate change. It's sobering but hopeful at the same time.
Just finished "We Bought A Zoo" and I'm now reading "Pieces Of My Heart (Robert Wagner's memoirs).
Looks like I'm on a memoirs trip lately.
After reading Robert Wagner's memoirs you must read the biography about Natalie Wood. It's called "Natasha" by Suzanne Finstad. She did some very good research. It will give you a very different perspective on Wagner.
Wow - I noticed this thread started back in 2006. I just finished "A Movable Feast" by Ernest Hemingway. I had read alot "about" Hemingway but nothing by him. Now I want to read another.
Oh my god I just finished my sisters keeper by Jodi Picoult . Omg I never expected the way it ended . a throughly good book though and enjoyed it and cried over it too . I only hope that if anything happens to me like that ,that I have the courage to speak about it like she did . those of you who have read it know what I am talking about and those of you who have not then please do yourself a favor and read it . In my opinion it is a wonderfull book .

I'm partial to Hemingway, in part because of his affinity for Michigan, my home state. His short stories make a great introduction. If you're in the mood for a fuller length story, I highly recommend For Whom the Bell Tolls.
One of my all-time favorite authors, and on my "desert island list" for sure.
I know that they are other forums for this but I like the people on this forum. The people on the other forums are so annoying and boring. Then the sites with the people that aren't so boring are more immature then I am! Anyway, I'm currently reading "The Kite Runner" and it's great so far. Below is my list of books I've read recently and yes, I liked them all.
1. Time Traveler's wife (chicklit)
2. Forever by Pete Hamill
3. The Red Tent (chicklit)
4. All of the Harry Potter Books (Loads of fun)
5. Middlesex
6. A Million Little Pieces
7. The 5 People You meet in Heaven
8. Yes, yes - The DaVinci Code
9. Memoirs of a Geisha
My all time Favorite book is Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison. I can go on and on. But the the book I keep going back to over and over again is 1-2-3 Magic: Effective Discipline for Children 2-12. I love my kids but they drive me crazy
I am currently reading "Catching Fire - How Cooking Made Us Human".
Just picked up "Zigzag Through the Bitter-Orange Trees", by Ersi Sotirolpoulos.
Finished Paul Greenberg's "Leaving Katya", which was a better-than-average novel with interesting insights into modern Russia. Perhaps not a tear-jerker for everyone, but it hit very close to home for me.
Pearl Harbor: A Novel of December 8th, by Newt Gingrich and William Forstchen. Gingrich is not on my list of favorite people (not by a long shot), but the book is very good. I'm looking forward to the next one in the series.
