Several years ago I read Sheilah Graham's autobiography, Beloved Infidel. She and F.S. Fitzgerald were lovers for decades and the tales she tells of their relationship clearly show why he wrote as he did.
BTW, I heartily recommend Graham's book. It's a true page turner.

OK we are going to have to disagree on that one Here is a quote from a description. "The Great Gatsby captured the spirit of the author's generation."

All I can say if this was a representation of most Americans of his generation what a sad people we were. Maybe Fitzgerald was extremely privileged but most Americans were/are not. As for the book none of the characters were likable. They were shallow, immature, spoiled and selfish. And also liars. Definitely not a group to look up to or want to be like.

I will check into Graham's book though.

Oh I am quite confident that there is going to be more than one winner out of these titles!
I started 'Esperanza Rising' since it has been on my list the longest, and I am enjoying it,but I am excited about all six of these titles.

Just started Room, by Emma Donoghue.
Pretty disturbing so far. To this kid, the whole world is this room he lives in. And I can guess how he and his mom ended up there. Though I think I'm equally disturbed by the fact that he's 5 and still breastfeeding.

I felt the same way. I was kind of freaked out by that fact then I tried to put myself in their shoes. Who knows what you would do and how you would behave when your only human contact is each other? I think it was their security but yeah….still freaks me out, lol.

one more chapter….ok, just one more chapter…. and one more and one more……..
I really like her writing too. I like her JP Beaumont series the best but have read several of her Joanna Brady (I think that's the name, female sheriff in Arizona) series and enjoyed them.

Free. Does that mean it's an e-book? Sorry if that's a naive question.
