I finished it too. Thanks again for mentioning it here, otherwise I might not have found it. You're right -- definitely a writer to watch for more.

You're welcome. I did not expect that ending.

Currently reading "The Cartel," by Don Wilson. Enlightening and well researched. It is fiction but based in reality.

I started A Just Determination by John G. Hemry and am enjoying the book and the authors writing style.

All But My life : A Memoir by Gerda Weissmann Klein.

This is a beautifully written memoir about a tragic time during WWII in Europe. It was pure horror and "tragic" doesn't quite nail it. I can't think of a word to describe it so I will just say it was
"hell on earth" particularly for the Jews. I've read several books in this nonfiction genre and this is one of the best.

Dawn, don't read this one.

As I was reading your post, I thought, "Not for me. Definitely not for me." You got it -- I won't read it. Actually, whenever I see "WWII" in a synopsis, I move on to the next. Thanks for the heads up though, because there's sometimes an exception. This time it's this: Everyone Brave is Forgiven by Chris Cleave. He wrote Little Bee (which I loved) and Incendiary (which I liked very much). Everyone Brave is Forgiven takes place during WWII. It's fiction (which doesn't make it any better for me, by the way) but it's based on (real) letters written by his (real) grandparents, to each other. I'm going to read it soon. Not now, but soon. I have the ARC (advance reading copy) but I think that I'll get a copy of the final version, just in case.

When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi.

Finished Dear Mr. You by Mary-Louise Parker. When she forgot to be narcissistic she actually wrote some pretty good stuff, but 90% of the time she didn't forget.

I finished A Just Determination by John G. Hemry last night and really did enjoy it. It's about a Navy ensign on his first assignment aboard a warship in space late in the 21st century. It has courtroom drama and is science fiction. Wanting to savor this Navy JAG series and not finish it too quickly I am reading NYPD Red 3 James Patterson and then probably my next in line J.D. Robb's In Death series.
