I just read Sense and Sensibility. And then today I finished Slaughterhouse-Five. So it goes. Next up is Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali. My in-laws read it for a book club and said it was amazing.
I have always loved reading, but the past few years I haven't read as much as I should have, what with tv and the internet as distractions. But then I realized there are so many books out there I want to read! So many "classics" I haven't read, so much I still want to learn from non-fiction. I'm not the fastest reader, but I'm trying!
Oh, and has anyone read the Book Thief? How was it?

The Book Thief is waiting to be next in line over here. I just have to finish The Prince of Tides, which is really really great. Very eloquently written!
Just finished Ann Rule's "....And Never Let Her Go". Had tears in my eyes through most of the book and still get teary when I think of it.
Decided I needed 'lighter' fare and opted to reread Stephen King's Dark Tower series. About 2/3 of the way through the first one.
Actually, after reading two Ann Rules in a row, I think I've figured out why I usually read fiction. Even in fiction there are sometimes scenes and/or characters that give me a shiver or two. But to know that what I am reading really happened is somehow worse than even the scariest parts of any horror novel.

I recently read The Book Thief and Infidel. TBT was a good, fun, read. I was pleasantly surprised, because YA books are usually too "fluffy" for me.
Infidel was very good. I enjoyed reading the cultural parts, but the political parts were hard. She is a very strong woman.
I am almost done with Phantom of the Opera...struggling with finishing it...it really isn't written very well (IMO)! Also reading a book of short stories set in Stalin's Gulag.
I looked up the reviews on this, and it looks to be something I would like. Have you read any of his other books?
I read "The Store", which was very good, too.
The so-called climax to his stories tend to get over-the-top. With "The Association" ~ which I finished last night ~ I thought it was a bit overdone. However, I still anxiously read through it, and it was definitely gripping to reach that point.
His style is similar to Koontz, maybe. I'd recommend them.
"The Holy Innocents" by Kate Sedley. Part of Roger the Chapman series.
