A book club - in the Piedmont area of NC? I would love to know more! May I send you a private message to find out the details? I am a resident of the Piedmont area and would love to belong to a Book Club!

We chose George Eliot's Middlemarch for April, and I recall how tedious I found it as a college student. Having been married now for 25 years, I think I will see it in an entirely different perspective, and am actually looking forward to tackling it again.
yes, like all good books it does stand alone. My understanding is that Larsson had planned 10 books in this series. . . he died suddenly after the first 3 were finished. # 4, still in draft form, is in an inheritance dispute.

I finished Provenance last night. It's one of those books where I would have stayed up reading until I was finished (if I could do that, but I need my sleep!) and very interesting. It's about the largest art forgery con of the 20th century. I really enjoyed this book a lot.

I started reading One Bullet Away: The Making of a Marine Officer by Nathaniel Fick last night. It's been great so far. I would suggest it if you want to know more about Marine officers, but please know that it can be a little crude at parts. My husband and brother-in-law are Marine officers, and it's been very eye-opening for me so far!

Miguel's Mom, I'm interested to see what you thought of The Book Thief once you're finished; I want to read it soon!

Just reached "part 2" of "Master & Margarita". We read/translate about a page a day. Bulgakov is probably my favorite author by now.
You're reading it in Russian, Mitch? Impressive. After years of being told I'd love M&M by a friend, I read it last year (English translation) and did, in fact love it.

I'm reading Snow by Orhan Pamuk. It's translated from Turkish, and it's very much not a European/Western novel, so that's been a challenge.

I have just finished "The Hiding Place" by Corrie Ten Boom.

Amazing, amazing read.

I haven't picked out my next book... but I have over 54 books I've picked up at BnN the last couple weeks so I should just close my eyes and pick one.
