I checked it out, and it's not helpful. Books I loved rate as low as or lower than books I couldn't even finish. My feelings very often differ from popular opinion.

I just finished reading "Every Last One" by Anna Quindlen and "One Day" by David Nicholls. I'm having a hard time reviewing them, because they both left me feeling depressed (or was that just my state of mind ).

They are both easy reads, but neither left me feeling summer-happy.

The trick is to find the books you really love and see if a particular poster feels the same. That has usually worked for me when I go on Goodreads for a review.

I decided to rummage through my bf's millions of books and came across Stephen King's Rose Madder. I'm liking it so far, but we'll see.

Just finished "Emissary of Light" by James F. Twyman - loved it!
It may not be the best book I've ever read, but I am guessing it came at the right time in my life, I couldn't put it down

Is Memoirs of a Geisha good? I saw it at Barnes and Noble, and was thinking of getting it but couldn't decide.

Right now I'm reading Marked. The first book in the House of Night series. It's pretty good so far. And I just finished reading The Vampires Bride by Gena Showalter. She's an amazing author.

I've spent most of this summer reading young adult novels. I'm currently reading the Hunger Games trilogy. most of the way through book 2, Catching Fire, and book 3 is coming out in a few weeks (already preordered it). it's a really good YA sci-fi series (think Battle Royale mixed in w/ a little bit of the Giver). so much better than some of the tripe out there for teens

I also picked up a new copy of Murakami's Windup Bird Chronicles and am rereading it since I lost my original copy last year. that is a pretty quirky book (seriously, the first chapter features an amazingly bizarre situation)

I read Memoirs of a Geisha about 10 years ago and found it pretty good. I guess I have to reread it again and see if I have to change my opinion

Since Dying of the Light is rather tiresome I started the 3rd volume of the Wheel of Time series "The Dragon Reborn". So far a good sequel...

I read it when it first came out so I'm not sure if I'd feel the same way today but, when I read it, I thought it was FABULOUS!

The story was incredible and was made even better by the fact that this was the author's first novel and that HE was writing from the viewpoint of a WOMAN, a geisha no less. Oh, and that the author isn't even Asian. I thought it was a big thing for him to tackle but he did it VERY well.

I would read it if I were you. In fact, if I come across it, I think I'll read it again to see if I enjoy it now as much as I did then.
