"Train Wreck: The Life & Death of Anna Nicole Smith" written by Donna Faye Hogan (her half-sister).
Lot in there about Anna I didn't know about. Her life in Texas was very similar to mine growing up in Texas also. Both our families are redneck Texans and dysfunctional. I can so totally relate. But unlike her, I never want fame, so I went into the Army instead to escape.
"Fieldwork", by Mischa Berlinski. A wonderful read, blending together the life of contemporary expats in Thailand and historical accounts of adventurers.
Just started "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo". We'll see if it lives up to the hype.
Just finished my last book and about to select a new one to start reading - A friend recommended "the girl" series, but so far I've only got The Girl who played with Fire and it seems that's the second book, so have been putting off reading it until I read the "Tattoo" one first.
Stephen King's "Under the Dome: A Novel." He never fails to grab and keep my interest. A theme similar to William Golding's "Lord of the Flies," where an invisible force field of unknown origin cuts off a small town.
Extremely relevant to one possible future, if the economy continues to degrade, or even if a hurricane or other natural disaster passes through your region. Also a really good psychological study of dangerous people with power at the local level, something we all should be thinking about even if economic activity resumes at some level.
I read "Memoirs of a Geisha" years ago and I loved it. I'd definitely recommend it.
Now I'm finishing "So sure of Death" by Dana Stabenow (Liam Campbell series). I like the Kate Shugak series more than this one. Campbell series is... OK.
I read a book called The Cheating Curve. It was okay. I just got annoyed by the author's constant reference to designer labels to describe what the characters were wearing. WE GET IT! The people are wealthy and spend a lot of money on their clothes.
The book is about a woman who is cheating on her husband and how her best friend, whose husband is cheating on her, takes it. It was a pretty good ending.
I read a book called Cyber Case. A woman begins to suspect her partner is cheating with someone online. It has a nice twist to it. I don't want to give the ending away. It's a very quick read. It's a little over 200 pages and I finished it in two days.
I am about to start on a new book today before I go to work. It's called Of All the Stupid Things. It's directed toward high school students but I'm only 20 so it's not TOO beneath me to read it.
