Just read that a few months ago. It was definitely up there in one of the all time bizarre reads. .... I continually say to people that I need a Soma holiday and most people just look at me like I'm crazy. LOL

I'm currently reading Lolita by Nabokov

Just starting "The Air Conditioned Nightmare" by Henry Miller. Amazing how similar consumerism and materialism was 70 years ago as compared to today. Not much has changed.

The Best American Non-required Reading (2007). Very good anthology of the best American (duh) contemporary writing.

I read Brave New World about a year ago and loved it. Really blew my mind. Now that you mention it, I could really use a Soma holiday, too.

Deaf Sentence -- as recommended by someone on this forum (jtur88, if my memory is serving me properly).

I'm not a fan of fiction but I'm getting a bit bored of memoirs, so I thought I'd give this a shot. It's dense (there's not a lot of dialogue) but so far, so good.

As far as Brave New World - I read it twice in highschool and loved it! Maybe I should pick it up again...

I'm currently reading The rythm of Selby, by Marti Healy.
The story actually takes place in the town I live in, though the name was changed by the author.
I was lucky enough to meet the author a few months ago at a luncheon organized by an association I belong to, and she read a few passages of the novel to us - really interesting.
