Thank you phonelady, I can't wait to read it.

I'm reading Unravelling Amazon.com: Unravelling (9780156006101): Elizabeth Graver: Books
and,
The Crimson Petal & The White Amazon.com: The Crimson Petal and the White (9780156028776): Michel Faber: Books

They are both fantastic.

Oh my!!! I have now added several books to my "must read" list. I have a pile of books that I want to read right now from classics to self help books. I have NO idea which one is going to be next!! I can't wait to settle in with a good book, but my indecisiveness has caused a delay.

Finished The Revenge of the Spellmans by Lisa Lutz yesterday. It's the 3rd in her series about the Isabel Spellman and her family, all of whom work as private investigators. She's funny and it's a very nice, light read.

Now I'm on to Plain, Honest Men: The Making of the American Constitution by Richard Beeman. I received it for Christmas after putting in on my wishlist. It's going to take me a while, but I'm looking forward to it.

I really liked Farnoosh Moshiri's "Against Gravity". This is a blunt book in plain, unflowered language that tells an interesting and powerful story that you won't want to put down. She's a Persian-American writer, but the story nearly all takes place among Americans in America.

Just about to start John McGahern's "By the Lake".

Just finished The Historian. It was a good story...but at almost 900 pages, I think it wouldn't have lost anything by being being trimmed 200 pages.

Now reading Shanghi Girls by Lisa See. So far, so good.

I just ordered on amazon...

My System by Aron Nimzowitsch. It's a classic chess book.

Also, My 60 memorable games by Bobby Fischer. I play on this free chess website, but I'm pretty rusty. Any chess fans? I want to get better.

I just finished Madman's Tale by John Katzenbach. It is a nice little thriller. I am not sure how on earth James Patterson sells millions of hack stories while this kind of moderately talented, all-around readable authors struggle to sell.

I will start Blasphemy by Douglas Preston. I hope that it is as good as Relic

With family visiting, and all the Christmas stuff going on, I wasn't able to pick up a book ALL WEEKEND! That's like a new record for me But things are back to normal ( or as normal as they get) around here, and after work tonight I will be settling down with a cup of coffee, a blanket and another random grab from the library shelves. "The Devil's Banker" by Christopher Reich. The blurb sounds a lot different than something I would normally read, so hopes aren't high. But we'll see. I've been surprised with some of the other books I got on this last trip- randomly grabbed approx 11 books- so who knows.
