I just finished The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Wow. Just wow!

Tonight or tomorrow, I'll start The Dirty Life, by Kristin Kimball. It was given to me as a gift by my dear friend, who told me it was an absolutely beautiful book.

Amazon.com: The Dirty Life: On Farming, Food, and Love (9781416551607): Kristin Kimball: Books

Re-read True Grit for the first time since 1969...both times in anticipation of the movie coming out.

It is a good read.

LOL your to-read list sounds like mine. Just pick a gray rainy day and dive-in!

I'm reading Amazon.com: Good-Bye, Chunky Rice (9781891830099): Craig Thompson: Books

which was a Christmas gift from my daughter, and

Amazon.com: The Pushcart Prize XXXV: Best of the Small Presses (2011 Edition) (The Pushcart Prize) (9781888889604): Bill Henderson, The Pushcart Prize Editors: Books

because I looooove anthologies.

Just read 32 candles by Ernesta Carter. It was so good, I read it in one sitting. I loved it. I had to go watch 16 candles to understand some of the references but other than that it was a great read.

I really liked Snow Flower and the Secret Fan too. Haven't read her others, though.

Franklin's Crossing by Clay Reynolds.....a very gritty, realistic picture of the people who settled the West late 1880's....set in northcentral Texas....gruesome details of the cicumsances of wagon train life, encounters with Indians, the cruelty on both sides of the battles. Character descriptions and 'why they do what they do' stories are very well written, interesting.

Yikes! One stinker is bad enough but three in a row would have me looking for the Valium.
