Just last week, he visited and decided to read it again and asked to borrow my 3rd one for a few days...

I'm going to check out Atlas Shrugged...thanks!

Alaska is another good read by Michener.
My favorite Michener book is The Source.

Yes. Only 3, though.

The World According to Garp
Hotel New Hampshire
Cider House Rules

I didn't care for Garp but I liked the other two. I plan to read Irving's autobiography one of these days.

Didn't care much for Garp either.
And you have also read Lonesome Dove...hmmm...we seem to like the same books.

These books I've gotten in the last few weeks.

-How to read, write and think more effectively by Rudolph Flesch.

-The art of clear thinking by Flesch

-And, Your Creative Power by Alex Osborn (1948). The creator of "brainstorming". Very savvy guy.

Modern books about business or problem solving get bogged down in gimmicks or faddish type concepts. I like going back to the original sources.

Larry McMurtry is one of my favorite authors. I think I have read everything he has written. One of my favorites is Duane's Depressed. I laughed my way through that book even though it was sad in places. That entire The Last Picture Show trilogy is wonderful.

I had always planned to visit his used book store in Archer City. It was supposedly the biggest in the world....in something like 3 or 4 buildings. Alas, I waited too long and it was gone. I should have gone. It was only up the road a piece. That's Texas talk for 3-4 hours away. LOL.

The Christmas Cookie Club by Ann Pearlman for a change of pace. I especially like the quirk of providing a recipe at the beginning of each character's chapter. Some of them have me salivating.

I'm rereading Jane Eyre for book club. I love it just as much as I did the first time - I just wish I could go back and forget that I know how it all turns out!

Oh - and I didn't care fo Garp either. I think it was just too depressing and frustrating for me!

He's written about 29 novels and I haven't even scratched the surface yet. He was equally brilliant in "Terms of Endearment" and didn't know he coauthored "Brokeback Mountain." I saw the film.

I have a lot of catching up to do...oh boy!!! my husband will just have to do the cooking for awhile.

It took me forever (no pun intended), but I finally finished Forever by Pete Hamill. Oh my gosh, what an absolutely FABULOUS book. I highly recommend it.

It took me so long because I've been so busy and have had a million things going on. I'd stare at the book longingly, wanting to read it. And I would, but I was so tired at the end of the day, I could only keep my eyes open for a short while.

Sigh... I wish that the book went on for an additional 600 pages. It's an amazing, incredible, wonderful story.

Next up: The Art of Racing the Rain by Garth Stein. I know that I'll cry through it, but not as much as I'm crying that Forever by Pete Hamill is finished.
