I finished that a couple of weeks ago. I thought the premise was fascinating and the writing good, but I thought it got a bit tiresome before it was over. I'll be interested to see your take on it.

So, the Rothschild memoir that I was reading? Dumbounded? It turned out to be... dumb. He was trying to be funny but since I'm the funniest person that I know , his prose seemed pretty pooey.

Nothing is keeping my interest these days. Jhumpa Lahiri needs to write some more short stories. Hello? Jhumpa? Get on that, will ya?

I went to pick up a book from the library. I got A Yellow Raft in Blue Water, since y'all (Ketabcha) raved about it. If it doesn't keep my interest, I'll chalk it up to my brain being fried -- it's me, not the book. But I'll try...

Just finished The Name of the World by Denis Johnson.

Now re-reading Kerouac's On The Road. Can't remember if I've read it twice or three times before, but last time I read it was in the late eighties. his

Next I want to read Patti Smith's autobio, then Keith Richards'. Both fat books. Will prob work in another Denis Johnson in between.

Have you read Wonderful Tonight: George Harrison, Eric Clapton, and Me by Pattie Boyd?

I really liked that one and I could not put it down. Talk about tangled romance....it has everything including a lot of trivia that is very interesting. George was always my favorite and Eric Clapton is the man, IMO.

I don't remember if you read non-fiction or not - have you read Little Princes: One Man's Promise to Bring Home the Lost Children of Nepal by Conor Grennan? Very inspirational. Even tho it's not fiction, it's very easy to read.

Default John Irving

Has anyone read Last Night in Twisted River? This is his latest. I've read almost all of his novels, the last one being Until I Find You. Sometimes his books are a little disturbing, but he's such a great writer, sometimes really off the wall, sometimes down to earth.

I do read non-fiction -- in fact, there was a long stretch when I'd *only* read non-fiction. I'll definitely look into that book. I think that I'll wait until my focus is back -- I don't want to risk not liking a truly good book.

Thank you for the recommendation.

ETA: I just read the synopsis of it on Amazon. It sounds like an outstanding book! Thank you again.
