Just read "The Help." One of the best books I have read in a long, long time. Couldn't put it down until I finished it at 2 AM.

K, I did like it. As Lola said, the whole book was strange, but, I like strange, different books. I was somewhat cofused by the ending. At least I didn't know what was going to happen in the end. I d on't know why Ninah did what she did at the end. I will definitley read more of her books.

I am being whisked back to 1530 and the Tudor Court by a book! Secrets of the Tudor Court by D L Bogdan, is an excellent story from the viewpoint of a young girl of the time.

Default The House at Sugar Bay, by Helene Cooper

I'm only 30 pages into this beautifully written memoir and already this amazing author's accounting of her early life has me hooked. (I'm not a willing participant, given all I've got going right now, and still I find myself having to sit down and read just a few more pages....)

I didn't even know that slaves were freed from America in 1820!

I will add to this once I've finished, but I am so excited about it that I just had to share.

Have a beautiful day, starting now, everyone.

I'm about halfway through Jayber Crow and I'm loving it.

It really does make me nostalgic for the days of my grandparents and many of the things that the narrator (Jayber) mentions strike a chord with me. Railroad tracks, counting the cars on a train, watching boats go by on the river, meeting interesting characters in a small town....all of those things bring back memories.
