I just downloaded this onto my Kindle. I happened across it and got fixated on it, for some reason.

Just finished Scott Spencer's "Man in the Woods", which is a very, very good read. Short, but packed with a lot of clever observant writing. It's a mystery with a credible story line about believable people and a wonderfully true-to-life dog, which delighted me even though I'm not a dog fancier. Read it.

As Steve Jobs would say "Wow, just Wow". I just picked this up last week from the library. It was mentioned in Job's bio. Job's wife Laurene sent a copy to Bono. Bono was a family friend.
Btw, I noticed cat's Table was on your "to read" list. Another book with interesting and unique characters. Highly enjoyable.
On edit: sorry, wrong book. I have Mozart's Brain and the Fighter Pilot.

How coincidental! I haven't read the Jobs book, but Mozart's Wife just kept coming up on my radar screen for some reason.

Oh! You read The Cat's Table already? I'll probably wait until it becomes available on Kindle through my library. Failing that, I'll wait until it's in paperback. Now that someone who I *know* says it's good (rather than just Amazon reviewers who could be paid or cajoled into writing good reviews), I'm even more excited to read it. And less excited about The Marriage Plot, I should mention.

We have a fantastic library system, and it doesn't take long to get new books.

Where can I sign up to get a friend to send me a box of good books?
My friends either don't read or just read best sellers. That friend is a keeper, Dawn!

I think that my library is decent, although I'm new here so I can't be sure (it was certainly fabulous when I was in CT), but the library isn't conveniently located and I'm relying on what they have available on Kindle, and that's VERY limited. I guess that means that I'm still keeping Amazon stock prices high, though.

So you picked up Mozart's Wife... but did you read it yet? If so, was it good? Bad? Neither?
Oops. Just saw your edit that it was a different book.

LOL! She's awesome in every way; really a treasure. The books are just gravy.

I just checked it out at the library. I'll consider myself forewarned.

I recently read a beautiful and moving book called Daughters of Iraq by Revital Shiri-Horowitz. It's the story of a family of Iraqi Jews who fled Iraq for Israel, told from the point of view of three different generations of women. a really thoughtful and well-crafted book.
