Okay I messed that title up . It is not cutting stone it is the cutting season by attica locke sorry for the mis understanding ,. Im hoping the cutting season is good sorry for the mistyped title.
I recently finished "The Cutting Season". I will put it down as "really good, not great". A lot of names, characters and details at the beginning that were hard to hold on to, but then the story clipped along.

I'm now half way through Old School by Tobias Wolff. It's pretty terrific. It's not labeled as a memoir, but I'm pretty sure that he's telling his own story.
well I have the end of your life book club on hold at my library and the next book is the language of flowers cause I have heard so much about it everywhere not just on here . take care all and have a great reading day .
A Beach Less Traveled: From Corporate Chaos to Flip-Flop Perfumer By John Berglund. I know John and Cyndi from their parfumery in sxm, where you can make your own personalized perfume. It is an interesting book on how they decided to set up a business on the French side of the island and all the things that they had to do in order to open a business.
Just finished Veronika Decides to Die- was a very good read (and a small book so I get a good sense of accomplishment..
And, all the talk a few pages back about Willam Stegner had me looking for some. I got All the Little Live Things which looks good- I hope to start it shortly.
Something about the title Spectator Bird seems familiar and I wonder if I read it years ago. Will have to look at that one too~ so thanks as always for the suggestions.

I finished Old School by Tobias Wolff. It was very good. I wouldn't recommend it for everyone, but I enjoyed it.
I think that I'll start The Price of Salt (by Patricia Highsmith under her alias of Claire Morgan) later.
In other news, a month out of warranty and my Kindle battery isn't holding its charge as it should. So I contacted Amazon and they offered me the Kindle 4 (the one without the keyboard -- but I loooooved my little keyboard!) for $54 instead of $69. It'll be here later this week.
As for the old Kindle, Amazon won't endorse you changing the battery on the Kindle 3 Keyboard version. They say that there IS no battery replacement for it. You have to buy a new device. Well, batteries for it are available everywhere. The replacement is a little tricky but my husband is a tech-geek so he'd have no problem doing it. So I'll use the new Kindle, he'll use my old one, and when the battery really can't hold well, he'll replace the battery.
After beginning it many months ago, then taking a hiatus from reading altogether, I finally finished East of Eden late last night. Easily one of my favorite novels, and I think John Steinbeck has officially replaced Sinclair Lewis as my favorite author. Not sure what I'll read next. I want to read more Steinbeck but my local booksellers aren't able to keep much of his work in stock. And what they do have I've already read!
