The Applebaum was good, and pretty "comprehensive" IMO, but, I read it after all of the Solzhenitsens and there was nothing new there. And after reading S's, her's was just too "balanced"...
The third was the most read-able, but also the most emotional. He was writing everything he had left to tell with loads of bitterness and desperation to get it out while possible. Alot more on the political atmosphere of the time and how that was affecting his reporting.
Apparently after the fall of communism, S had a short commentary piece on evening news in Russia...but it was short-lived, people weren't partiuclarly interested in hearing what he had to say...could you imagine?? I wish I could watch/listen to him...I think he is a political prophet!
