I never have just 1 book going. I try to get to Barnes and Noble or this little hometown bookstore where I live at least 1-2 x's per week and while there I'm reading Cross Country by Patterson (I'll buy the paperback eventually I think...though I love the Alex Cross books so I might splurge on the hb).

I'm also re-reading Last of the Breed by L'amour. I had to read it in HS (that was a long time ago!) and I loved it, the only L'amour book I really go into.

In the bio category I'm reading a bio of St. Patrick (St. Patrick of Ireland by P. Freeman) and so far (chap. 3) it is pretty good.

Finally I'm working on: Paradise Lost (for the 4th time!) and then "When I Don't Desire God" by John Piper.

STILL reading Anna Karenina (sigh). It's taking me forever.
It took me forever also. But it was well worth it, one of my all-time favs!

Just started Orhan Pamuk's "My Name Is Red". Quite a pleasant read, however the only English translation at times reads a bit stiffly. I like it so far, but it's still early.

As for Anna Karenina, in the previous post, I don't think I've ever finished it, but I keep a copy around and every once in a while I read a few pages, at random, just to remind me what great writing really is.

I had to read Anna Karenina in college and it is on my list to read in 09. I love it, but it does take awhile!

Thumbs up A little rough around the edges, but a great read!

Pieces Of My Heart by Robert J. Wagner. I love biographies and autobiographies and this one was a good read. Mr. Wagner gave had a lot of insight on old Hollywood-fascinating stories of old greats like Cary Grant and David Niven.

So true! I've tried to read it twice and have given up after the first chapter, since I can't keep the characters straight. I need to find a book group with whom to to discuss it. So many people say it's one of their favorite books.
