I sometimes read books that I enjoy, and then discover that there has already been a movie made from it, and even worse, sometimes I've seen the movie and didn't realize it was from that book.

So, before I'd suggest a book for a movie, I'd have to go to IMDB and see if I've already seen it.

City of Thieves by David Beninoff would make a great movie! I was surprised when I checked IMDB and didn't see anything on it.

I'm not sure if Tarantino should direct this or not. I'm also not sure if it should get an "R" rating or go for the full-on "Mature".

The rest of the Tales of the City series.
Also Tim Dorsey's Florida crime series would be great. Serge A Storms is a character who needs the big screen!

One of my all time favorite books is "The Far Pavillions" - It's been made into a movie (which I've not seen) but the reviews were terrible. I'd love to see it made into a good movie...

Would love to see Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell made into a movie - I think there's been talk for a long time ....

Oh there are a lot of books that ought to be re-adapted into quality movies. Native Son, anyone?

Okay, this literally had me "snorting" with laughter! Corduory could be the next James Bond or Blade!

I think Charlie Kaufman could do a good screenplay of a Nabokov work, like Despair, and keep the playful tone. Anything by Andre Malraux is pretty cinematic. I think there's an old, old version of Man's Fate, but someone should tackle it now.

Many of the best adaptations have been from novellas and short stories and I can't really say why that is. Perhaps the shortness, the tightness of the story lending itself to fleshing out the visuals. Isak Dinesen and Gita Mehta have some possibilities for treatment.

Old science fiction novel called The Demolished Man. I always thought it would make a great movie. A couple of other great sci-fi books Ringworld by Larry Niven and Rendevous With Rama by Arthur C Clarke would make great movies.
