Mine is Bringing Down the House, and the sequel Busting Vegas, by Ben Mezrich. Makes me want to learn how to play blackjack. I'd recommend watching the movie 21, which is based on the book, but read the book first. It's not exactly Shakespearean writing... but it's pure entertainment.
Although it had it's faults, I really enjoyed Jennifer Egan's A Visit From the Goon Squad. The story still resonates with me about 6 months after reading it.
Honorable mentions would go to Lev Grossman's The Magician King, which I thought was a better all-around novel than the preceding one, The Magicians. Yeah, they're in the fantasy genre, but don't let that deter you.
Also, for anyone who came of age in the last 70s/early 80s, there's Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. Definitely a clever futurist take on nostalgia for times we're still living in.
