Just wondering if anyone has read it yet or is currently reading it? I did buy it but it is still further down on my to-read it. I haven't been all that impressed with King's recent writing, but other than the ending, I did like his Dark Tower series.

Dark Tower is one of my favorite, if not, my favorite written work of all time. I got it in my mailbox on Tuesday but havent started reading it yet. I will probably wait until after finals.

I am thinking of getting it myself. I'd like to see some personal reviews here too.

It did nothing for me. I'm sorry to say I was disappointed with it.

I just finished reading this new book by Stephen King. I really enjoyed it. I haven't cared for King much in recent years, in fact, I had kind of given up on him, but because I enjoyed the Dark Tower stories so much (except for the ending ) I thought I would try this one and it was like going back many years and visiting old friends I had not read about in a long time.
The story starts out with the Gunslinger sitting in front of a fire and telling a story to his partners and that's how the story reads, like a campfire story. It also is only 307 pages long, which means King doesn't meander as much as he often does but just keeps the story moving along.Nice to see King return to good form.

I got the book from the library without realizing that it was part of the Dark Tower series. (And, yeah, the ending was truly AWFUL! )

It's been SOOOOOO long since I read the other books that, when I started reading this one, I just couldn't get into it. I ended up returning the book without finishing it.

Perhaps I'll go back and re-read the entire series, including this one in-between books four and five.
