That is the way I feel, too. I fought with the idea of having an ebook for a looong time because I love real books so much. But last year I caved in after I saw a friend of mine using one and now I can't believe how easy it is.

I never had problems with highlights, either, but it feels like such a little problem as opposed to its many many advantages. Especially since you can turn them off rather easy.

Never thought I would get a Kindle, as I always thought I would prefer a regular book, but I'm hooked on the kindle. With a lighted cover, its much easier to hold than a book, no flipping of pages, much easier to carry, and no gas wasted driving to buy books. I did not get a Kindle Fire, though, as reading on a backlit screen would bother my eyes too much, I like the look of the e-ink, much easier on the eyes and looks like a regular book page.
