So I guess all of us Kindle users got the e-mail and heard the news story about our forthcoming refunds. We should all share how much we get back, and see who gets the most! I don't really buy best sellers in electronic form, and I only crossed over into Kindlehood last Christmas, so my refund will probably be low. But some of you might get a decent amount.
Here's the info, in case you didn't get the e-mail.
This applies to all e-readers, not just Kindle/Amazon. It looks like B&N/Nook will be sending out their e-mail shortly. This is related to the antitrust case and settlement between a group of publishers and a group of State's Attorneys General and the US Justice Dept, not the more recent Google/publisher e-book settlement.

I'm not going to be getting much, if anything. I don't think I've ever bought a book that was published by Hachette, at least not to my recollection and the fact that I'd never heard of that publisher before getting the email from Amazon. All of my Simon & Schuster books I get in paper form because I have a friend in NYC who works for them. I probably did buy a HarperCollins book (or several) but I'm not about to look through my Amazon purchases to see which ones they were. I'll just wait for my measly refund to see if I bought any HarperCollins books, I suppose.
PS. There's one state -- I don't remember which one -- whose Attorney General didn't file for this, so people who live in that state are not eligible.
Oh lucky me. Not that I would be getting a refund since I've only bought a few books, but I can't. I live in Minnesota - the state whose attorney general did not file.

Ah! That was it! Minnesota! Now he/she can be called the ASSorney General for not going along with the flow.

True. Like with books. If we went with the flow, all we'd be reading are "best sellers" (UGH!) and we would never have found the off-the-beaten-track gems that we love.
My husband has over a hundred books on his Kindle. He's hoping for enough $$ to...maybe... buy one more. ie. he's not hoping for the big bucks on this.

Exactly. Even if I were to get money back for every book I bought, this isn't going to be a windfall situation.
