Are there any good, contemporary novels about American expats living abroad? Specifically, in Europe?

You mean that whole Hemingway era of the 1920s when a whole group of ex-pats lived in Paris? That sort of thing?

Not exactly. I'm looking for fictional books on Americans who have moved abroad in the late 20th/early 21st century.

Oy. That's a hard puzzle. I don't even know how to go about searching for that.

Maybe something in this list will fit your criteria?

Let me try this again (totally got my answer wrong before): The Sixteen Pleasures (set in 1966 I'm afraid) by Robert Hellenga?

Bloodprint by Kitty Sewell. It's not great, but it's interesting enough.

Bloodprint: A Novel of Psychological Suspense: Kitty Sewell: 9781607515685: Amazon.com: Books

There's also The Expats by Chris Pavone. I haven't read it, but it has some pretty good reviews.

What about Prague by Arthur Phillips? I confess I haven't read it, but I know it's a book people have strong opinions about, both pro and con. It concerns the experiences of young expats living in Budapest, who wish they were living in the presumably hipper Prague, in the early '90s.

Death Spiral and Death Spiral II Jai Dee. by James Boedeker, Great reads. The setting is in Thailand and no they are not smut books or books that advertise for sex tiurism. They are about broken vets who find redemption by helping those who cant help themselves.
