since we're on day 363 of 2012. lets think back to all of the great books we've read over the past 12 months

they can be new books or old books it doesn't matter.

lets list the best of the best here

without question my book of the year was "the tenth justice" from Brad Meltzer.

released in 1997, Probably the best legal thriller i've ever read. 3 sleep deprived nights to finish and what a twisted finish it was. great story. 5 stars

The Tenth Justice, Mystery Suspense Novel by Writer Brad Meltzer

my other mention. Jeffrey Deaver's "Edge"

released in 2010 the Edge is a fast paced action read that keeps you guessing right to the end like only Jeffrey Deaver can. 5 stars

Edge by Jeffery Deaver

I've read a lot of good books this yr but these two stood out above the rest.

I'm interested to see yout lists

I read history.

The finest book I have read this year is a French memoir of the Algerian Civil War
St.Michael and the Dragon Amazon.com: St. Michael and the dragon;: Memoirs of a paratrooper: Pierre Leulliette: Books

Reads like a novel. I could feel the exhaustation of the young trooper and his bewilderment regarding the war. I would place it with the top five military memoirs I have ever read. Yes, it was that good.

I also enjoyed that guerrilla warfare classic Guerrilla Days in Ireland by Tom Barry
Guerilla Days in Ireland: Tom Barry: 9780947962340: Amazon.com: Books

I'm super-late to the party. My favorite books of 2012 were the Harry Potter books. That's right. I just read them. At least I was able to read all seven as fast as I wanted without waiting for the next release, and I was able to watch all eight movies without waiting. It really is the small things that make life great.

Well, at this point it would be the best book I read last year, but definitely East of Eden.

The best books I read last year that I had not read before:

11/22/63 by Stephen King. I am not at all a JFK buff and generally don't care for time travel stories. But this book hooked me on page 1, and I loved every bit of it.

The Cypress House by Michael Koryta. An author I just discovered in 2012. I read three of his books, all of which I enjoyed, but The Cypress House was the best of the three.

I've been reading quite a few books lately~ vary all over the place. Have enjoyed Tony Hillerman books about a peace officer in the 4 corners indean reservation area~ then read ja Jance's Joanna Brady series about a sherriff in southeast Az. Mentioned that I had enjoyed them to a bookseller here and he told me to read Michael Mcgarrity. Just read "Mexican Hat and it was the first time in a while that I read a novel well into the night (morning) to finish it. Already have next 2 books on hold at the library.
