Author Jonathan Maberry, one of my favorite novelists, has also penned several non-fiction books on the history/mythologies of various supernatural legends. Look for:

Vampire Universe: The Dark World of Supernatural Beings That Haunt Us, Hunt Us and Hunger for Us (September 2006)
The Cryptopedia: A Dictionary of the Weird, Strange, and Downright Bizarre (September 2007)
Zombie CSU: The Forensics of the Living Dead (September 2008)
THEY BITE!: Endless Cravings of Supernatural Predators (August 2008)
Wanted Undead or Alive: Vampire Hunters and Other Kick-Ass Enemies of Evil (September 2010)

Yes, Vampires do exist, and I am not referring to the psychic type or young adults who claim to like blood and file their teeth down into fangs. However there is not much online about the true ones. There is also not many of them alive today..very very few.

My advice start looking at a little town in Romania, called Sighisoara. (Or the Balkans in general). Speak to the older folks in this town. I have read some true accounts of real vampires and they are nothing like what is portrayed in Hollywood movies, they are vicious killers, who look at humans like cattle.

They are not immortal, but do live much longer than we do, they do have fangs, and are 'activated' when they become aroused, angry, or hungry, similar to when a man gets aroused, his penis grows and becomes longer and harder, the same principle behind a vampires fangs. They are not romantic at all, have no desire to seduce or have sexual relations with humans. They can be killed but in different ways than something that would kill a human being.

Feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss this further.

btw, Werewolves do not exist.
