Hi all! My wife is wanting to try her hand at writing, and she wants to base it off of something like vampires, werewolf, witches, or the occult. I am trying to assist her on research. So if you guys could help me find some historical or nonfiction books where these things are the focus, that would be great. I do not seem to be having much luck. Something well written with some true stories from real people in it would be great. Any help is appreciated!
There was an account in Spain in the 1850s where a fellow claimed to be a werewolf. A film was made about the story.(dramatized of course)
Fellow was named Manuel Blanco Romasanta. Search the Internet for the Werewolf of Allariz
there should be plenty of books in general on the occult and witchcraft, from modern day and even going back to the Salem witch hunts.
But real life vampire stories?? Closest thing i've ever read was on Vlad Tepesh (Vlad the Impaler)... and that's not exactly a story about a real life Belle, Edward, and Jacob..... but Vlad's stories are filled with more horror then any brooding teen story could be...
To be serious for a second, there have been stories published on those who felt they were one of the above; though it may be hard to separate an article that was at least written to be serious, from one on those who like to dress and play the parts as a lifestyle.

....Non-fiction...about werewolves and vampires and witches... Sorry, nope.
Maybe my choice of description was wrong, I am not a writer after all. Critical thinking would tell you what I meant however, but thank you for your less than helpful comment. What I mean is a book that has stories, folklore, or legends surrounding these things. There are many people who claim to have seen or even been one or the other, so there are real life stories, whether they are true are not would be up to interpretation.
Well, see... 12 hours went by with no replies to the OP, so mine was obviously the catalyst for the torrent of responses that suddenly appeared. You're welcome!
