Here's an Obituary (in Books at the NYT) on Levin. Not a brilliant writer, but certainly a good story-teller, Levin wrote Rosemary's Baby, the Stepford Wives and others. His book Stepford Wives is now become an expression of the same-ness of a community, or the blandness of a wife in today's vocabulary:
