The Wall Street Journal came out with a list of the summer's most often not-completed books. I only had one "match" with their list - I started Leaning In and gave up on it for no other reason than I felt like I 'got it" and didn't really need to read any more. Admittedly, their methodology (examining Kindle highlights and presuming that if the highlighting tapers off, the reader tapered off as well) wouldn't pass muster with a group of scientist (sorry Stephen Hawking), but it is fun to think about a Summer Unread List!
Interesting. I haven't read all those books but I wouldn't have thought of correlating highlights to whether a book was read or unread. I've sometimes gotten so caught up in a book that I later wished I had highlighted something or the other.
I read The Goldfinch and loved it. I have read A Brief History of Time but that was in pre-Kindle days.

Ha. And what about the people who don't highlight at all?

This. I don't see the point in highlighting a novel but eh, whatever floats ya boat :P
Last unread book for me is Dreamcatcher by Stephen King. I only got to page like 150 or so but it was just lame. Typical characters, typical lame sex/fart jokes/stories...and it seemed like it was going to be Tommyknockers all over again.
Picketty was just being interviewed and was asked if he thought people were actually reading the book.
