Ferlinghetti, for those not aware, or too young started if not the first, one of the first independent bookstores that sold, and later published paperback literature. Allen Ginsberg's Howl, of the Beat Generation[/i] is part of his publishing oeuvre. Ferlinghetti is a well-recognized poet in his own right.
